The Australian Chinese Medical Association Inc (ACMA) in NSW was formed on the 20th September, 1990
The aims of the ACMA are :
Membership is open to all medical practitioners registered in the states and territories of Australia. About two-thirds are in General Practice, with the remainder from almost all the sub-specialties, as well as hospital, resident medical staff.
Association members have joined together to purchase a property, ACMA House, for the use of the Association.
ACMA offers a wide range of services and functions to its members and the community.
Medical Education
ACMA has a strong continuing education program with prominent speakers, participating in monthly educational seminars, as well as the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Social
ACMA has a number of social functions (including a Chinese New Year Dinner) and sporting events (golf and tennis) throughout the year.
Community
ACMA participates actively in promoting health issues in the community, such as Women's health, Cancer, and Heart disease. The ACMA Charitable Trust was established in 1993 to promote the welfare of the Australian community. Donations to the Trust are tax-deductible.
Communications & Publications
ACMA produces 4 issues of "ACMA NewsMagazine" a year. From time to time it publishes a health directory which lists members' practices and special interests. In addition to the ACMA NewsMagazine, the Association hosts a discussion list (acmaforum-subscribe@yahoogroups.com). Members are encouraged to join the list. This list is only open to ACMA members.

Young ACMAs
A "Professional Advisory Group" has been set up to provide advice and support in areas of general practice and subspecialty training to the members of the Association.
